Reports of Performances 2013-2015

This list covers 2013 - 2015, with a few from 2012.  It is intended to include all peals rung in the District since 2013, and all quarters rung by a local band or with local interest. Other significant performances are also included.  Please inform the webmaster (wisbechweb@elyda.org.uk) of any omissions or errors.

2015

Saturday 19th December.  A peal of Surprise Minor (7 methods) was rung for the St Blaise Society at All Saints, Shouldham.

Friday 20th November.  A peal of Grandsire Doubles was rung for the Society of Royal Cumberland Youths at St Mary the Virgin, Crimplesham.

Wednesday 11th November.  A quarter peal of Plain Bob Doubles was rung at St Wendreda, March.  This was rung half muffled for Remembrance Day.

Saturday 1st August.  A quarter peal of Doubles (9 methods) was rung at St Margaret, Clenchwarton. T his was rung to celebrate the birth of Morgan Emerson, great grandchild of David Emerson.

Saturday 14th June.  A quarter peal of Cambridge Surprise Minor was rung at All Saints, Walsoken.  This was rung for, and during, the church Flower Festival.

Saturday 30th May.  A quarter peal of Mixed Doubles (1 principle, 10 methods) was rung at St. Peter, Walpole St Peter.  This was rung for the flower festival of this truly beautiful church, and was a first quarter peal for Kirstie Urquhart on the treble.

Wednesday 13th May.  A peal of Spliced Surprise Minor (21 methods) was rung for the Ely DA at St Martin of Tours, Fincham.  This was specially arranged as a 21st birthday compliment for this day to Beth Marsden, daughter of 2, God-daughter of 1.

Saturday 9th May.  A peal of Lundy Alliance Royal was rung for East meets West at St. Peter & St. Paul, Wisbech.

Saturday 2nd May.  A peal of Stedman Caters (non-Association) was rung at St Peter & St Paul, Wisbech.  The peal was rung 'on the 300th anniversary of the supposed first peal, rung at St. Peter Mancroft.

Saturday 2nd May.  A peal of Bristol Surprise Major was rung for East meets West at Holy Trinity, Stow Bardolph.  This was rung to mark the birth of a daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Saturday 25th April.  A quarter peal of Stedman Doubles was rung at St. Margaret, Clenchwarton.

2014

Monday 17th November.  A peal of Doubles (1 principle, 20 methods) was rung for the Society of Royal Cumberland Youths at St Mary the Virgin, Crimplesham

Wednesday 1st October.  A peal of Doubles (11 methods) was rung for the Society of Royal Cumberland Youths at St Mary the Virgin, Crimplesham.  This was the 250th peal for the Society by the Conductor.

Wednesday 13th August.  A quarter peal of mixed doubles (11 methods) was rung at St Mary, Wisbech St Mary, with thanks to David Appleby for standing in to ring the tenor at the last minute.

Monday 4th August.  A quarter peal of Mixed Doubles (3 methods) was rung at All Saints, Shouldham.  This was rung to commemorate the outbreak of the Great War, remembering the 27 men of this parish who gave their lives in that conflict.

Wednesday 2nd July. A quarter peal of Grandsire Caters was rung at St Peter & St Paul Wisbech, for the Wisbech Rose Fair. This was a first quarter on more than 6 bells for David Appleby.

Saturday 14th June.  A quarter peal of Grandsire Doubles was rung at All Saints, Walsoken.  This was rung for, and during, the church Flower Festival.

Saturday 31st May.  A quarter peal of Plain Bob Doubles was rung at St Peter, Walpole St Peter.  This was rung to celebrate the flower festival in this Church which began on this day.

Saturday 3rd May.  A peal of Wisbech Surprise Royal was rung for the Association of College Youths at St Peter & St Paul, Wisbech.  The peal was rung in memory of Alan D Flood.

Wednesday 30th April.  A peal of Bristol Surprise Major was rung for St James's Guild at St George, Methwold.

Tuesday 1st April.  A peal of Surprise Minor (13 methods) was rung for the Norwich DA at Ss Peter & Paul, Watlington.

Thursday 9th January.  A quarter peal was rung at Shouldham in memory of Betty Matthews (95), long-serving parishioner, PCC member and a former ringer whose funeral took place here on 8th January.

2013

Tuesday 31st December.  A peal of Anglia Surprise Royal was rung for the Ely DA at St Peter & St Paul, Wisbech

Sunday 29th December.  A quarter peal of Plain Bob Doubles was rung at St Wendreda, March to welcome the new priest in charge, Rev Clifford Stocking, and also to celebrate the birth of Eva Jennifer Gayford.

Monday 18th November. A peal of Doubles (1 principle, 11 methods) was rung for the Society of Royal Cumberland Youths at St Mary the Virgin, Crimplesham.  This was rung open in memory of Colin A Johnson. Colin rang 43 peals on these bells.

Saturday 26th October.  A peal of Lessness Surprise Major (non-Association) was rung at St Andrew, Northwold.

Sunday 22nd September.  A quarter peal of Plain Bob Doubles was rung at St Wendreda, March.  This was rung prior to the service of thanksgiving for the completion of the Church heating works . It was a first quarter peal at first attempt for Dominic Young on the treble.

Monday 17th June. Congratulations to John Anderson on ringing his first quarter peal away from cover at Denver.  The quarter was rung as a get-well compliment to Brenda Holland.

Saturday 15th June.   A quarter peal of Grandsire Doubles was rung at All Saints, Walsoken. This was rung for, and during, the church Flower Festival.

Sunday 2nd June: A quarter peal was rung at Walpole St Peter in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the coronation of HM Queen Elizabeth II; also on the day of the Licensing of Fr. Neil Batcock as Priest in Charge of this Parish and S. Mary's, West Walton; and to give thanks for yet another wonderful flower festival in this church.

Saturday 1st June: A peal was rung at Downham Market by mainly local members of the Society of Royal Cumberland Youths to mark the Golden Wedding anniversary of Janet and Philip Waterfield.

Saturday 18th May. A peal of Surprise Minor (3 methods) was rung for the Lincoln DG at Ss Peter & Paul, Watlington. This was especially arranged and rung to celebrate the marriage of Christopher Davey (son of, and married by, Andrew) and Kate Fryett, in this church later today.

Monday 25th Feb: Congratulations to James Richardson of March on ringing his first quarter peal at Chatteris. This was a practice night quarter with a 50/50 band of Chatteris and March ringers as the March ringers are visiting Chatteris while their church is closed for works on the heating.

2012

Thursday 6th Dec 2012: Congratulations to Ted Smith on ringing his first quarter peal at Shouldham.

Monday 4th June 2012: A quarter peal of Reverse Canterbury Pleasure Bob Doubles was rung at Wisbech St Mary, for the Diamond Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II. It was conducted by Pauline O'Neill and was a first quarter for the rest of the band - Jeanette Cox, Bob Cox, David Appleby, Roger Embling and Alan Pateman. Congratulations to all.
